I'm going to put Ubuntu on it. Vista = fail

Ouch for Vista :-(

Ubuntu is (still) cool (and always top with AMD based machines)!

cheers ...

Yeah, Vista crapped out on me on Pyrrho this morning....So I'm happy with my OS choice. It decided to forget how to send print jobs to the printer...Spooler reset, reinstalling printer, reconnecting & restarting everything was no help. Since I was trying to print out plane tickets, it was a shitty thing for Vista to do.

Anyway, here are a couple of pics from the build night....

All the components:

Everything's in:

Not too exciting, I know. But I love this little thing.

Excellent cable routing!

Really? It was a fairly quick 'n dirty job, more to ensure free airflow than aesthetics. Pyrrho's got way more cables and I think I did a much better job overall...

The first step is to get a modular PSU, which will save you a lot of headache. Beyond that, it's all pre-planning and instinct. Figure out which cables are going in the same general direction and bunch them up, then hide them if you can. In this case, I didn't have anywhere to hide most of the cables, so the sound from the front of the case went under the mobo, USB and power along the bottom behind the hard drive, and sata cables tied to power cables. As you can tell from the pic, the power cables were way too long for this case, so what I did was just bunched them together and hid them in the currently unused top 5.25" bay.

I've heard bad things about Server 08... From what I hear Server 08 is the Vista of Windows Server versions.

I have used both, and I prefer 08 to 03. FYI, 08 is built off similar architecture to Windows 7. It's quite a bit better than Vista.

Are you using the Server 2008 or Server 2008 R2? From what I understand, the first is built off Vista and the second is built off Windows 7

Have you actually seen the source code, or just screenshots? I used RC0. Yes, it looks like Vista, but it's not Vista.

Server 08 begat 7, not the other way around.

I haven't seen either. I was just going from a graph I saw on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wi...amily_Tree.svg

I never thought about OS's begating other OS's before......

Some fantastic pictures. You're much more organized than me.
