w90vp screen goes black and freezing

just bought a brand new asus w90vp
it is absolutely wonderful BUT it's frozen up on me about 6 times over the last 2 days - where the screen just goes blank, the lights on the keyboard are still on but the screen is black. ctrl alt del does nothing. a reboot is the only way to get back again. the back of the machine does seem to get quite hot (in comparison with my old notebook)

should it go back?

or could it be something I've installed?

anyone had any similiar experiences? or advice.

it truly is a wonderful machine (except for the non-backlit keyboard) I'd hate to return it unnescessarily

You can always try to perform a restore point if this is something new. Or uninstall some apps that you suspected to be the culprit.

Does the screen tend to flicker a bit before going black? One diagnosis could be towards the gpu.
