Darq's Gaming/HTPC

Thread Starter
So the little guy I made last December has been put down, but I learned alot from that build and have decided on taking some of the parts and moving forward. *Note, I should ALWAYS listen to my GF* I am ditching the apaive HTPC case as it used a one off power supply and was to tight for upgrading. It has been replaced with a CoolerMaster Elite 341:

I like this case because it fits a standard ATX power supply and laying on its side all the fan intakes are still open. I am using the same motherboard:
ASUS M3A78-EM

Upgraded to a real power supply this time:
OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ700MXSP 700W

8 gigs of RAM:
Kingston HyperX KHX8500AD2K2

Moving to a QuadCore:
AMD Phenom II X4 920

Upgrading the cooler for the quad from the Blue Orb II to a COOLER MASTER GeminII

And a Radeon HD 4850 512MB for the GPU

That is cool looking Darq.

Yep, for the money you cant beat AMD. That 4850e Nyako's getting is a kick ass CPU I could have easily gamed with it but if I am doing everything else might as well up the CPU to Quad as well.

I am starting the build over, its up and running I am doing benchmarking now but the OS is shot, and the build is was half ass just to test the hardware. I like this system its fast as hell. I tried to run 3dMark03,05,06 and they all crashed because they do not like Win7 and the fact that I am using my TV as a monitor so it spaz out when the tests start. I need to get some Vista 64 installed on this thing and run test on a fresh OS.

3DMark 03, 05, and 06 all run fine on my windows 7 install.

I think it has more to do with aero theme and switching on my TV. I have to force the Res right now so when 3dmark does its force change it borks my system. My TV is a whore when it come to stuff like that. I should just plug it into a normal monitor and test then set it up on my tv.

Why are you running Win7? Just wondering.

When I run any 3DMark, except for vantage, Aero is automatically disabled.

Yeah, when it goes to disable Aero is when it freaks out.

So I am still waiting on the OS but with Win7 RC I have noticed some weird ass tearing at the top of the screen when playing games or watching full screen videos. Any Ideas.
You mean you can see like a white bar at the top of the screen?

Flickers and pulsing and the entire screen flashes when movies change cams.
