toshiba tecra m2v s330 (out of warranty)

i have searched this and forum and others, i have seen the question posted but did not find the answer- the problem is;

the laptop does not start, the orange power led flashes, the flashing pattern is

S S L S L S S S (S= short , L=long)

i realize this is an error code, perhaps 00101000....but what does it mean?

i will like know that before i spend for repairs.

thanks

Don't know much about the LED patterns, but I would try first to re-seat the ram modules, looking into checking/replacing ac/battery.

cheers ...

If you would like to read into this forum post it will explain that flashing patterns should be read for right to left ie write down the pattern then reverse it.
Also, tells you how to convert short long etc to an error msg. Lot of reading. May help

great link

saugen48...thanks a lot. this is great info. i have been searching for a coupe of days with all kind of key words but newer discovered this.

re my (actually my daughter's) laptop- i have discovered it will need a new motherboard. once i took it apart, i found significant corrosion which appears to have been caused by some kind of spill which may have happened a few weeks back. no one, however, knows about a spill
