Looking for a Solid Recording/Production Laptop

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a laptop that is powerful enough to run Pro Tools LE effectively. I've tried two loaner laptops--they were somewhat outdated Apples--that, while able to run Pro Tools in its most basic form, were largely useless when it came to playing back more than three tracks with any more than two plug-ins between them. Put succinctly, these things were effete.
So, now I am looking for a laptop, of course for mobility's sake, that can stare that complex, draining, monster of a program, Pro Tools, spit in its face and say "Give me your best shot."
I've looked on Pro Tools forums but they rarely have any information regarding hardware beyond the actual recording equipment.
I don't have too much cash. I can easily cover anything around $800.
Much appreciated in advance.

Asus G50 or Gateway FX series

Those are good choices. Im a fan of the Toshiba Qosimo X300 since you can slap large hard drives inside even the bigger 12.5mm types which can be as big as 1TB (1000GB)

What is the application stressing? CPU, sound card? You can get a good CPU with plenty of RAM. Notebooks do not have great sound cards.

It isn't the sound card because LE uses the recording interface for sound. It is the CPU's problem.

And what is exactly what LE requires as "minimum" CPU performance?

Easy to shop for a CPU. Have you used any that work well to give us an idea of your needs?
