---Release Notes---

Wow where do I begin? It's been over a year since I've dusted off the driver modding tools and gotten my hands dirty modding drivers. It's been alot of work, and I do mean ALOT of work, getting back up to speed, as I'd been completely out of the drivers loop for well over a year as well. After a bit of coaxing, I was able to be pushed into once again getting this machine rolling again, and here we are. The latest and greatest NBF MobileForce driver. What's new? The better question is what *ISN'T* new. Support for Windows 7? Check. Updated tweaks? Check. Support for brand new mobile GPUs including the new GeForce GTX 2x0M powerhouses? Check. Damn near everything except the heart and spirit of the drivers has gone through a revamp in some way. This is truly a milestone release for me as it marks my official (and hopefully continued) return to the driver modding world. I wish the newcomers that came along while I was away the best of luck, because I am back!

If you have a GeForce 8M series card and above, make sure to get the NVIDIA PhysX System Software directly from NVIDIA's site. I do not include them in this driver package to cut down on driver size, as well as eliminate problems for GeForce Go 6 and 7 series users (as PhysX is not supported on those cards).

Woohoo! The man is back!

Downloading these right now! I'm sure the Powermizer problems I have been having with the beta will be fixed this go-around.

Welcome back to the nut house, dude. When you need more help, you know where to find me.

Feedback:
Passmark GPU test: went up 9% (woot)
3Dmark05: stayed right where it was supposed to (no gain, no loss, I'll take it)
3Dmark06: I really hope this is a fluke... I shouldn't drop from 10,507 to 9,193 running fresh on a cold, non-heated up computer unless there's something wrong with the driver.

As far as tearing and all that goes, nothing to report in that realm... driver works fine for day-to-day operation. I'm going to try some FRAPS and real world gaming to see what develops.

3DMark is known to do crap like that, that's why I don't like it as a good benchmark. Run some benchies from other games to see how those are.
OK, I don't know what you changed between the beta and these, but the difference is there, and positive.

The biggest boost came with Far Cry 2 benching. What I got on the betas was 31.80 ave/45.16 max/25.64 min. With the finals, I was able to get 33.80 ave/48.93 max/28.21 min! That's a quite a huge jump just going from beta to finals! This is the BEST I have EVER gotten on the FC2 benchmark with ANY driver! I am pretty sure PowerMizer was messing things up. I am also starting to think the overclocks on my GPU weren't actually sticking with the betas, and part of the reason why the scores were lower.

In the Company of Heroes benchmark, results were second only to my best with 177.92's, with 73.5 ave/234.0 max/27.2 min. With 177.92's I was able to get 90.9 ave/243.5 max/ 27.4 min. Close enough for me, as I consider the "minimum" result to be much closer to ACTUAL gameplay average. This is also a HUGE leap from the betas, as I was only getting around 17fps for the minimum (not to mention lower 200's for max and 60's for average). I'll take that improvement!

And finally, benching with TrackMania, my average is up ~2 fps over the betas (~+3.5% improvement), and a whopping 7fps over the aforementioned 177.92's (~+10% improvement)!

This is a great driver so far, now that it is final. My benchmark results are pretty much up everywhere and the image quality is nice. So far, no problems. But I haven't tested them long, and I haven't tried leaving the screen on to see if it turns off this time around (which it wouldn't with the betas).

Oh yeah, I almost forgot -- the temps are finally in check and back to normal. Also -- thank GOD -- the GPU finally downclocks normally while in 2D/idle.

All-around awesome so far! A great way to come back with a bang, Tony!

This laptop has been the best investment EVER!

I'm just glad you're back and putting out the best drivers around!

I don't know what it is you do that everyone else doesn't, but I still prefer your modded drivers to Dox's and TweakForce's releases.

Time, my friend. Remember, my first modded driver was released a bit less than 4 years ago now (around August\September-ish 2005).

Dox is still pretty new to the mobile drivers scene, and TweakForce just doesn't know what the hell they're doing with laptop drivers (I don't even think their modders even HAVE a laptop) I've been doing it for what seems like forever (when I got my Inspiron 9300) and I just know what the hell I'm doing.

Dude, I know -- I was there.

Check this old post out, LOL! I was shilling your drivers since the beginning! 81.87's were the shizz for their time, though.

Then again, I was shilling the Xtreme-G drivers (and apparently DriverCleaner, too) before you too...

Old school stuff!

Ah, the good ol' days... Some of TweaksRus is still on the Internet Archive. Check this archive out. The oldest driver thread that loads is 81.82-v2. The thread that has the oldest "start date" on there is entitled "Poll: XTreme-G Mobile Edition 81.26-HD?" from September 19th, 2005. Is that the driver you first released? Old instructions you used to post.

I remember people being like "You're only 18?!?!?" Kinda a crazy trip back in time, huh? I figured you'd enjoy that, LOL!

Oh my god, now that's some throwback stuff there for sure, HAHA.

How I miss TweaksRUs, Daishi, JRd1st, and all the old guys.

EDIT: I think my first driver was 77.77 or something like that, but I started only with INFs and putting those up for people to download and do the manual (ala LV2G) replace method. It was after the demand got higher (with I think 81.87) that I started shipping my INFs to JR to put up installers for (didn't have high speed intarwebs at the time) and it just kinda took off from there.

Hmm... I may have to enlist your PR skills again Shnike.

In the 3 days that the drivers have been out, only 57 downloads total between all the versions of 190.38 that I've put up (XP-32, Vista/Win7-32/64).

72 total downloads of the beta, but only a couple people reported in. Makes me kinda sad.

It was also the weekend. More people visit during the week. Also I didn't make a news post for the official version yet. I'll do that now. You still owe me a paragraph for beta testers!!

Maybe I need someone to bash me over the head to get things done...

No wonder I'm so damn disorganized and forgetful, I haven't had a woman in my life for 2 years.
Don't worry about it Tony. Sometimes it's better to take things slow. You moved pretty fast from beta to final too. sorry I wasn't around over the weekend to update the news post. If you PM me your goals on release dates I can be more prepared, or you could submit your own news post in the future.

It was mostly a joke (except the part about not having someone to bash me over the head to get things done... and the being forgetful and disorganized part... and the not having a woman to bash me over the head and keep me organized and remembering things part ).

I'll get the beta testers write up for you within the hour, I swear.

I'll be ready. You can PM, E-mail or IM it to me.

Also, thanks for the news post, you should change the news title to "NBF MobileForce XP/Se7en 190.38 Released and just link to the general MobileForce forum (http://www.notebookforums.com/forum304.html) that way people know there is an XP version available as well.

Wasn't sure if you wanted me to post news about them or not, that's why I hadn't done it before, but now that I know it's okey-dokey, I'll definitely do it in the future.
