Hi,
Can anyone help me please !
I bought this Laptop about 18 months ago and it is now unuseable, where at fist there was lines on the screen then would not boot into windows.
I contacted a guy on the net who said that there is a problem with the Graphics chip and it needs to be reseated or something like that.
Does anyone have any info on this or can tell me how to repair it.
Can anyone provide me with Take Apart and service manual etc.
Thanks !

Read through the posts, there should be a guide on the FZ series - use it as reference.

Plug in an external monitor first and see if any differences.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
The Laptop will not boot into windows and an external monitor does not help.
I have been told by an Engineer that its the GPU and that it need to be re-seated or something along them lines.
I need some kind of instruction on how to do this.
Thanks !

I never heard about reseating a GPU if the GPU is being soldered onto the motherboard, which is pretty much your case.

I don't think it is exactly to reseat the chip.
As I understand because of the extreme heat from the processor the GPU kinda shifts and becomes loose from the board and then needs resoldering.
I need some kind of schematic to show me where the bits are on the board or if someone has experienced this problem and repaired it.
Thanks !

You are talking about "baking" or "reflow" here? The GPU is sitting near the CPU. Try the guide mentioned in post #2 above?

Call Sony VAIO Link

I have similar problem with FZ11Z (see my pics: http://pokazywarka.pl/nvidia_failure/ )

Check: http://genesis.sony-europe.com/instr...&m=VGN-FZ11Z .

Call to Sony and talk to them. They repair this for free.
