Still in the midst of running the system thru its paces, loading software and wringing it out... Longer and complete review to shortly follow... for now..

Check my sig for the specs. Ultra quick 5 sec review... Thus far everything exceeds my already inflated expectations... flawless paint job, perfect screen, rock stable, temperatures seem quick manageable , weight not as bad as one might expect, sound is very bearable... I will go into excrutiating detail as soon as I figure out how best to capture the utterly amazing paint job on my digital cam... for now a quick tease :

How about some pictures of that flawless paint job?

I too would like to see those pictures.

What all came with the system? Did Hypersonic include a generic case with it, or was it without one. I noticed you went the route of a Booq (I ordered a Targus 312 with mine). But it would be convient at times to have a carry case as well.

Did you get the subwoofer or the TV tuner (or the 12cell battery). The one thing I noticed with Hypersonic was that you could not order both the tuner and the subwoofer. Since I do more gaming and listening to music than I do viewing TV on the system, I ordered the subwoofer. However, I am lining up a gift idea for my wife where she can purchase the tuner and have it custom painted as well. Now that is nice of me.

In any case, I will be watching this thread.

Thanks.

First Crop of Photo's up in other thread Photo's .

It came with the generic Clevo vinyl case ( nicer than I expected ). I got 2 power bricks (they dont have fans btw), I got the 12 cell battery no sub, no tuner. The Booq bag is ideal fits perfectly and most importantly it doesn't feel heavy.

So far so good, I'm keeping the powerstrip settings at 475/299 for now, a little mor agressive than the stoc settings but doesnt seem to adversely impact temps. Th system ran rock steady for 3 hours of Everquest at 515/310 (the 3DMark03 of 4037 setting ) but I figured no ral need to push it, just nice to know you can really press if ya want... Runnin World of Warcraft Beta now blindingly fast....

What were the stock settings for the video card?

I am wondering if I will also get the Hypersonic case or if they pulled it out due to the order of the Targus. I am hoping that they sent it as well. Will have to see.

How is the fan noise? I see you stated the power bricks do not have fans. Are they creating heat issues like some of the first ones that came out with the 8790s?

Thanks.

Power Bricks...

one addendum to my first post... I stated earlier that the bricks did not have a fan in them... Well, oddly enough I based that on the brick I took to use at my home workstation. I threw the other brick into my Booq bag and didnt look twice at it. Turns out I have 2 different types of power brick. Both are rated the same output, but one is indeed substantially smaller than the other and does indeed have a fan. Unless you have them side by side you really don't notice the difference (they both are larger than any brick i have used before...). I take a comparison photo a bit later. Both bricks have April '04 dates on them, so it doesnt appear they are leftovers.

I wonder if one brick is the standard brick supplied in the clevo box with the computer and the other is just an aftermarket unit with same power outputs as sourced by Hypersonic? Unless I find a performance difference between the two, I really don't much care ( although I like the thought of a smaller brick, and thefan seems like a good idea )

FYI The un-fanned brick is the one I have been using most, while it does get warm, it certainly is no hotter than the brick that came with my Dell 8200.

P.S. General system noise has not been a problem, more often than not it is almost silent, fan kicks on from time to time and is noticeable, but not intrusive. Mob. meter returns temps that range from 40 to 55 deg C. Readings cooler than either my Inspiron 8200 or gateway 200xl.
