L300D keeps locking up in User mode

For the past few days I've been having a problem in that whenever I use my L300D laptop in User mode, it keeps locking up every few minutes and I have to switch it off using the power button and it does the same thing again whenever I return to the User mode.

And yet, when I'm in Administrator mode [which I'm in right now], it works perfectly fine.

I've never had this happen before and I'd like to fix this if I can without having to resort to the default factory setting.

Got a system restore point? Running a virus scan also?

I've installed Avast! and ran a virus check in Administrator mode and it showed there were no viruses. As for the system restore point, I don't have one as I don't know how to do one in Vista.

Under Vista, type in "system restore" in the search field at the start orb. It will bring up the system restore control panel for you.

The locking up, does it happen at a specific app, time?

I've found that there was one automatically created on Monday and I was wondering if I use the one that was created on that day, I take it that it's only the system files that get restored and I don't lose any downloads or anything like that?

You wont lose the downloads, but certain "installed" utilities might be removed/restored back to the time before.

I was just concerned that I'd lose any downloads that I made after the last system restore was made.

I guess I can give it a go and see if that works.

On another note, when I'm in User mode, basically what happens is that when I try to switch between various software such as Google Chrome or a Directory Opus window or Yahoo Messenger, it just freezes... sometimes I can move my mouse cursor, sometimes I can't move it at all and I hear this odd sound as well at times whenever I try to ALT+TAB to switch between windows...

You might want to review and update the devices drivers. I am a bit leery about the Directory Opus dingy.
