I am looking for good video editing software that is free, and easy to use. all i want to do is split a video up into parts so i can upload it to youtube since its too long. any ideas? i do have adobe cs3, but am not sure what program i would use. i have vista.

FREE video splitting software is an oxymoron. If you are into it, the best bet is to invest some $$.

Check out NBF free media buffs often for once in a while for a free offer.

since i have vista, would windows xp movie maker 2.1 help me? i know its for vista, so not sure... {http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx}
And what about Movie Maker Beta? {http://download.live.com/moviemaker}?

Vista has its own Movie Maker and it is good. Sure, try the Beta if you want, does not hurt.

Don't know for sure since I am not using this tool from Microsoft. Have you read its own FAQ?

I'd recommend VirtualDub. Its the best free program out there.
