comcast or RCN internet?

Comcast says their internet is 20-22 MPBS, while RCN is 10. So it seems like comcast is faster. But when i called RCN they say comcast gives a "speed boost" and then it goes down to 7MPBS. Is that possible?

It depends on a lot of minor variables about the cable & fiber optic lines around where you live, but where I live, I've got Comcast internet advertised at 15 Mbps (1.875 MB/s), and I've had sustained download speeds of 12-13 Mbps (1.5-1.625 MB/s). The way Power Boost works is it accelerates the first 10MB of any download and the first 5MB of any upload (up to 16 Mbps (2MB/s) or more in my experience) and then it goes down to the sustained speed. I'd still go with Comcast. Even the lower sustained non-power-boosted speed should be higher than 10 Mbps (1.25 MB/s) in most cases.
