HELP!

my xps m1710 was receiving a cleanout of its parts, and I put everything back together, and it will not even get to the BIOS screen. It powers on, sits for 5 seconds, and powers off. I checked the fans and the connections, but I cannot seem to find what's wrong. Could it be a dying BIOS battery, or is it something more serious? It's not my #1, but my little sisters employ it as their "gaming machine" from time to time (when you go from asus EEE's and a HP DV2000, an xps m1710 is monstrous), and I'd like to get it back into working order for them.

Swap the memory, try one DIMM, then the other, in both positions

try a base system - remove Hard drive, CD ROM Wireless cards etc and try to boot.

And from your post above i assume you tested the memory in another machine then, I would still try one swapping the memory from within the latop and from each slot. to eliminate problems with the DIMM sockets.

If still not booting, check the CPU, and in re seat it, and then try to boot.

Do you see the display light up at all -back light ?
