you'll never know i might just get lucky on this one. besides it have it on my agreement with the BBB that iF dell don't get me those specs it will be replaced with a new alienware M17X

I was unaware that the 1730 ever had 9800GTX's in SLi, I have the 9800 GT's in SLi and have never had any problem with it, I know there was a short window to get them, so I guess I was lucky.

If my memory serves me (that's a big if right now; still trying to wake up), the GT's were offered for about 4 to 6 months total with a month of GTX's disrupting the continuity. No clue why the GTX's were pulled after a month and the GT's offered again, especially offered as an upgrade to the 8800 gtx's as from what I've read the two cards are practically identical with a hair's breathe separating their benchmarks (http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...&postcount=171). How are the temps on your 9800 GT's? Is your current system a replacement i.e. have you had any trouble with your GPU's?

Have had my system since April, no issues whatsoever. Mine is an original that I bought myself, and you are correct, the GTX's were offered, for about a week (I remember because I saw them after I placed my order for mine, and asked Dell if they could alter the order and they said no). However, I have had no issues with my current GPU, always running in SLi mode as well. Glad I have 2 years of CC on this baby though.

A few months ago, I was apparently in some kind of spatiotemporal realm where one month equaled one week in this realm. No worries. I'm back now.

By "no issues with current GPU" you mean no issues with the GPU since purchase right? And might I ask what CPU you've been rockin' since April and the normal temps on your GPUs?

Also, might I inquire as to why only 2 yrs of CC? Planning on upgrading later on depending on experience? I see I'm beginning to sound a bit intrusive here, so I'll stop.

well the case went up to the BBB and they are working on the case with me , i have a new case agent / manager working with me direct from dell corporate. i find i amazing that after the BBB got a hold of Dell's legal department i get a call from a manager within hours. on the complaint form it ask you what kind of resolution you are demanding i gave these specs. they are trying to get this to me in 15 days via M1730 if no 1730 is available i've requested the alienware M17X. not sure if these specs can still be obtained let me know what you guys think.

they should have sent you this in the first place. if its true that they didnt have any left, i highly think this one may not be in the condition you want. dell is notorious for this. check everything properly good luck!

peeps this is not over, as it turns out the unit sent to me is also defective i turned it on last night and the dam thing is overheating, i sent dell an email saying i'm sending this back and dispatch me another one. i've also asked for some kind of compensation since i think i now deserve it.

i'm on my third system exchange with a case that's going on its 5th month.
