Two little problems - Help

Ok, I have two little questions/problems about my 8790.

1. I just recently tried the 7-in-1 card reader. I put in an SD memory card in it and nothing happens. I went in My Computer and it never popped up. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to install the reader? Is the card supposed to stick half-way out? Cause it wont fit all the way in.

2. The touchpad works fine and so do the right and left click. However, the scroll up/down button in the middle of the right and left click on the touchpad doesnt scroll. How come? Do I need to do something differently?

Thanks

Is Device 29 enabled in the bios? Do you see the (4) removable disks for the card reader in <My Computer>? Is SP1 installed?

No need to check the bios if you see the (4) removable disks. Device 29 is definitley enabled. Yes, the SD card is supposed to stick out halfway. The SD slot is the bottom slot closest to the front of the laptop. In a single HD config. it should be drive G:. Is there any data on it yet or is it a brand new card? Have you tried formatting it?

I know this sounds like a stupid question....but did you install the drivers for the Alps? If you did, check the button settings for the scroll. Either double click the touchpad icon on the taskbar or go to <control panel> <mouse> and under the <buttons> tab make sure that the scroll button is set to <scroll up> and <scroll down>.

Under the buttons tab, I see nothing that deals with the scroll button. Under the Hardware tab, it does say Alps pointing device. I even tried installing the Touchpad from the CD again and it still doesnt work

Under Hardware where you saw Alps..click <properties> and the click the driver tab. What does it show for the driver details?

Mine shows:

Driver Provider: Alps
Driver Date: 1/29/2004
Driver Version: 5.5.1201.1

My top scroll button doesn't work either...

I am having similat problems. My wife said the scroll button was no longer working for her, when I tried it I discovered the bottom one is functioning but not the top. The settings are correct.

I was wanting to know, if you had solved your problem with your scroll buttons.

Can you help?

Thanks
