Question on shutting down

How often do u recommend shutting down a mac? I usually just keep it in sleep mode until i want to use it again. is this bad?

The macs at work stay up pretty much 24/7. Just keep them well ventilated.

I shut mine down at home after usage.

Yeah, the only time I usually reboot is when I do a software update that requires it.

OSX doesn't need a restart like windows does, i never turn off my macbook pro unless its updated or i am putting it a case and transporting it.

Well I used to never turn mine off, But I have found some irregularities with sleep that mean that I generally do nowadays. Of course on the flip side of this, I just put a nice Intel X-25m in here and it boots faster than it used to wake up from sleep I think
