I have an Acer Aspire 5520, 2 years old. It suddenly shut down, and will not start up again. The power light (on/off button) flashes green, but nothing else is happening. I've tried disconnecting the battery/ac power adapter to completely power the machine down, but when I reconnect them the same issue persists. The power light will start flashing green before I can even press it. I do notice that when I reconnect the power supply, I hear a faint noise, which I believe is the fan, for about 2-3 seconds, and then that stops. I did notice the computer did seem to feel a bit hot for a couple of weeks before this problem happened, so I suspect there might be a problem with the fan. I know laptops may shut down if they overheat, but would a problem with the fan cause the machine not to start up at all, even after it has cooled down? Any other ideas as to what might be the issue if not the fan? Thanks.
