I9300 - Sometimes Sleeps but wont wake up!

It's an issue that shows up now and then and I can't figure it out.

WinXP Pro, SP3+, 2.26GHz (does it at stock 1.7GHz too), 2GB DDR,

I have all Sleep options turned off in Power Settings....

I leave it on and plugged it most all the time, can get up in the Morning and its a Black screen and nothing I hit wakes it up. HD and other lights are on...but no waking up.

When my Win 7 arrives, I'll probably upgrade to a much larger HD and install it and the problem should be gone. (I have the RC installed on an old Athlon XPM Overclocked Desktop with 2GB Memory, GF6600GT Video - and it works great! And always wakes up!)

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas....its not like there are any newer drivers for these things....lol.

I would check the external devices if there are any during these non wake-ups. Also network connections, were they on? Network devices properties review?

Try also hibernation instead under XP?

cheers ...

Network is always up and running fine...3 laptops connected at all times. Son's are newer with newer OS's and they have no issues. No external devices other then a Mouse connected.

Never setup Hibernation..maybe I'll look into it sometime. Really need a larger HD, this one is close to full.

This might be an issue Try giving the disk at least 5% of free space?

I'd say try different video card drivers. If the HD light is still lit then it probably means the screen shut off for some reason and doesn't want to come back (which seems like a GPU problem to me). What I mean by this is that it doesn't sound like your computer is in standby or hibernating.

As a potential fix if you're using XP, right click on your desktop and choose properties. On the screen saver tab, choose power options and disable your screen from turning off when idle. Report here with the results.

I do maintain more then 5% free....not easy.

Gonna search for new vid driver now, something causes BS at times and I'm suspecting it....

Edit - Installed laptopvideo2go.com 190.62's that recently came out...so far so good. LOL!
