Dell Studio 1737 Screen Become Dim
I have the same problem with my laptop however my initial circumstances were a little different. I was working on my laptop and closed the laptop while it was still running so that I could move from one room to another, and when I opened the laptop the screen was very dim and I couldn't get it back to normal. I also tried Fn+Up and Fn+Dn with no impact.
My laptop is Dell Studio 1737.
I tested the laptop with an external monitor and it appears to be functioning correctly.
What is an Inverter?
I found some similar examples talking about inverters and backlight lamps:
"If the backlight of your laptop stopped working or the image on the screen is so dim that you can barely see it under bright light, most likely you have a failed inverter board. There is a good chance to fix the problem if you replace the inverter board. If you replace the inverter board but the image is still dim, most likely there is a problem with the backlight lamp inside the LCD screen. If that's the case, try to replace the LCD screen." Is there an easy way to confirm that the Inverter and/or backlight is bad without replacing it? Can an inverter be easily ordered easily replaced?
