Diagnosing DEAD DV6103nr - DV6000 series

As payment for another job, I took a dead HP DV6103nr. I am trying to diagnose if its the motherboard or something else.

- The notebook is completely dead, no lights, won't power on.
- I get 18.9 volts from the end of the AC adapter power tip where it plugs in.
- I have completely disassembled the notebook. I get 18.9 volts through the USB/Power Jack board, which is separate on this notebook, all the way to the motherboard.
- When I disconnect the USB/power jack board from the MB, and plug in the AC adapter, the blue light on the USB/power jack lights. As soon as I connect it to MB, lights out.

Would this indicate replacing the MB?
Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

. Possible.

. How about replacing the power jack first? Cheap investment. Then try with another ac adapter.

Have you tried pulling the battery first when you plug in the ac?

I have tried a working AC adapter, and pulling the battery. Both do the same. When the smaller USB/Power board is attached to the MB, the blue light on the smaller board goes out.

I will get a new USB/Power board and try.

Thanks.

Swapped out power/usb board. Same.
Swapped motherboards. Works perfect.

It was a fried motherboard, NOT the USB/Power board. Looked like a burned IC beside the main power plug on the motherboard. Instead of finding and soldering that IC, I got a replacement motherboard for about $75 and all is working now.

Thanks for the help!
