i have a sony vaio pcg-8l1m/pcg-grz615s the screen inverter broke so i replaced it since then its asking for a password as soon as it boots up please help

Password at BIOS screen? Try removing the CMOS battery and leave it out for a few minutes and see. If this does not work, Sony is your best official bet.

I failed to see why an inverter replacement would cause a password to be entered.

cheers ...

thanks for that already done the battery thing and it still asks for the password

you'll need to call up Sony and fax them your purchase receipt. Then they'll fix it for you.

It asked for a BIOS password after you changed the inverter? That is the strangest thing I have ever heard of. Did you try putting the old one back in to see if that goes away?

The only other thing I recommend trying out is removing the hard drive. I have seen it before when a hard drive failed, it gave that message asking for a password. I can not say it will work for sure but it is worth a shot
