I would like to upgrade the HDD of my Satellite Pro M70-220 laptop from the current 60GB HDD to a 160 GB HDD Drive, and would appreciate if anyone could provide information on the type/specifications of the HDD that I should like be looking for, and if possible, specific recommedations of manufacturer and model number of a suitable 160 GB HDD.

Thank you

If you can get a good warranty, a 7200rpm drive of any brands at a good price, is what I go for. Look at 50cents per gigo is what a decent going price.

cheers ...

Thanks for your reply.

The current 60 GB HDD is Hitachi (HTS 541060G9SA00), 2.5" (W), 9mm (H) , SATA/150, 5400 rpm.

Does the SATA/150 interface of the current HDD imply any limitation on the interface of the 160GB HDD ?

I would recommend either western digital WD1600 BEKT or Hitachi travelstar 7k320 160GB,both being single platter drive's,will generally run cooler and have better access times, than the dual platter model's,while still having excellent throughput from disc density.
I don't think any notebook 2.5 platter drive has the speed to saturate the sata 1.5 interface
