Acer Extensa 4630z Loses battle with soda...need mainboard!

Alright...in a freak accident which I can't even begin to explain, my 5 month old laptop ended up with some soda on the keyboard. I've never had this happen to me before, so I had no idea what to do. It wouldn't shut off, so I unplugged it...but I didn't think to remove the battery.

Long story short...I took the entire thing apart, cleaned every single piece I could find, and put it back together...too late. I get no power, not even in the indicator lights on the front when it's plugged in. We checked the voltage from the PS, and everything was fine there.

Here's my dilemma. I have searched, and Googled, and Ebay'd and I find not ONE mainboard for the 4630z series. The ONLY ones I can find are 4620. How is that possible that no one has these things for sale? I thought maybe there was the possibility that the 4620 would work, but my mainboard is blue, and the 4620 is green...I'm not sure if this signifies a difference or not.

Can anyone help me..or at least point me in the direction of where I can get one? I even tried on Acer.com

I wonder if it would be cheaper and easier for you to get an used 4630Z and swap the parts. Just an idea.

cheers ...

Even a used 4630z is nearly 400.00, and I've seen motherboards for the other models for around 140.00

Go for some used and defect 4630Z - where you can be sure that the motherboard is still working.

Yes, your best bet would be to find one that is being sold because the LCD screen is broken but the rest of it is A-ok
