XP dualboot on an NP9280

Thread Starter
Just got my NP9280 in yesterday and I love it. I'm just playing with dualbooting XP and vista ult. 64bit.

I had trouble with the XP installation (bluescreen once or twice during driver load) and now after vista was installed XP doesn't want to startup at all. They're both on separate partitions and everything -- I set them up the way I always do with dualbooting these two.

I'm going to keep messing with it to see what the problem is, but I was wondering if anyone had run into a similar problem with the NP9280 or heard of problems with XP 32-bit and the x58 chipset in general.

I slipstreamed drivers already, perhaps I'll slipstream SP3 and see what else can be done. I used to be a semi-professional gamer, and I think sometime in the future I may actually have a chance to play a game again (wow it's been a while!) so I'd really like to have XP available for that (vista totally screwed up mouse motion). Not to mention the few apps out there that won't run in Vista, and simply having the ability to navigate through XP UIs since I'm an IT consultant.

well it seems that xp will not install on this machine. i needed it for protools 7.1 for my studio and gues what, doesn't work. if you get it working, let me know cause i need that info.

You can try to make it easier by moving to Windows 7 Ultimate and take advantage of its built-in XP VM engine.

This would not satisfy your work environment?

no because i need all of my hardware power for protools. this means i can not run a virtual machine.
