hy, some month ago i upgrade my bad 7900GS to a Quadro 1600M.

i have a great problem with internal monitor with a black screen.
now i use with external monitor and DVI and work

i try with a M90 monitor and work perfectly. i try my monitor with m90 and work.

what can i do? i read about flash with other bios but i don't understand.

i have to donwload bios of dell m6300? or i have to change my video driver?
probably new quadro card have different voltage.

i try also different OS: win Xp, Vista, Ubuntu, Win 7

The problem is more likely the Inverter on your E1705.

If you get a good picture with the 1600M installed in the E1705 using a external monitor then the card is working fine.

if you can try a inverter from a M90 in your E1705 and the 1600M GPU

no... don' work.

what can i do?
cable of monitor is different in precision m90?

very strange situation....

It sounds like you need a new inverter for the E1705 monitor and that will solve your problem.

You could try returning the inverter for the M90 or sell it on ebay to recoup your money.

I hate delays. That sucks! I hope you can get it up and running soon!

i don't understand.
my lcd with M90 inverter or original inverter of E1705 don't go on my inspiron.
original inverter go well on M90 or inspiron with another video card (not quadro)

Why i have to buy another inverter for E1705?

Sorry man, I don't understand. I don't know. I thought maybe teh M90 inverter didn't connect properly to your monitor. I was mistaken.

Best of luck to you. I hope you are able to resolve it!

Ok lets review what you have done here

E1705 laptop with a FX1600 GPU - original screen is Dark

E1705 laptop with a FX1600 GPU - M90 Screen Works

M90 laptop with your original E1705 laptop screen - Works

Did you just swap the screens and leave the orignal inverter and cables in the E1705 and M90 ?

my screen is dark, white, red, green, blu every 1 second.

no, m90 lcd isn't mine. and now don't have m90 in my home.

have i to change the cable? i have RG688.

probably the best solution is buy a m90 monitor, but is to expensive.
well if you tried your monitor on the M90 and it worked, it really only leaves the cable from the E1705

but as I asked above - did you swap monitor and cable or just the monitor?

Slightly off-topic, but perhaps someone can point me to a suitable post/site for E1705-compatible GPUs (WUXGA 1920x1200 of course)? My nVidia card just failed again (sent to Dell already 2 times!) and am now assuming the card/design is basically a lemon. I have no problem with modifying the case a bit, and replacing the 7800 Go, but was hoping to do it with something more reliable and affordable (Dell wants about 400 bucks for the ATI x1400! card).
THANKS!

The FX series cards seem to be more reliable

FX1500
FX2500
FX3500

but for best cooling you always want the dual pipe cards the stock E1705 card is a single pipe.

I agree there is a fundemental design flaw with the card and lack of cooling - if you relay on the stock cooling profile from the Dell BOS your going to be replacing the card sooner than later.

Thanks for the info. 2 more quick questions:
1 where does one find a 2 pipe cooler? p/n? mfr?
2 suggestions for modified BIOS to allow more cooling fan action?
Again, thanks for your help!

The FX series cards have dual pipes

i swap all of monitor. i prefer don't open monitor of M90 (not mine).

lcd model of E1705 and M90 are the same?

what can i do? have i to buy another cable? but my cable work fine on m90.. what's the different?!? very strange......
yes it is strange if you took the complete monitor from the E1705 (which did not work) and put it on the M90 and it worked, then put the M90 display on the E1705 and it worked.

usually the screens Say 17 inch are pretty much the same, the only real difference maybe the inverters between the two laptops.

Can you get hold of another inverter from a E1705 to test
