Gateway P-6831FX

Thread Starter
I have the Gateway P-6831FX with the stock CPU, RAM and HDD I want to make some modifications to it. Windows gives it 4.6 due to the RAM but is there anyway to get it higher? I've been looking in to this CPU its the Intel Core2Duo Mobile T9300, will this work on this laptop? I don't want to burn it out or anything like that. Anyone have any suggestions on the RAM? another question is was the P-6831FX supposed to come with 667Mz DDR2 RAM or is the the highest type of RAM it can use? I never really looked in to it.

Have you looked at/into the stickies in the section about this cool machine?

The T9300 will work fine in that and the TDP is the same so no worries about burning out. 667Mhz is the fastest RAM supported on that chipset short of OC'ing but let's not go there and do look at the stickies. So much info about this budget beast out there have a read.

Thank you and I did read it but he upgraded to the T8300 not the one I'm considering I might have skipped it but he in the sticky it says upgraded to 4GB RAM but did not say how strong but either way you answered my question so thanks again.

I'm trying to decide whether I should sell this laptop or just upgrade the shit out of it, what do you guys think would be a better move?

If the comp still performs well for you, I do not see any reasons to write it off yet. Ask yourself if the extra performance coming with newer and higher specs machines would give you better satisfaction with your current environment (works, games ...)

I just want it to last till to 2010 they pushed back lots of PC games to 2010 like Bioshock 2 and would like to play Assassins Creed 2 + Mass Effect 2 but i don't know if it will handle it if it can then I'd just upgrade what is needed.

Best thing is to review the system requirement from these game sites and comparing them to what you have at the moment.
