Its a good rig, I owned one of these, has second bay for another hard drive (although not raid supported) Screen is nice decent viewing angles, finish is good, and best is they are super easy to upgrade as cpu, ram hdd everything can be accessed from underneath through the panel under it. No disassembly, however you cannot swap out the gpu its part of the board youd have to swap the board out =).

I loved mine before i got the monster in my sig. =)

Great laptop, GREAT laptop, I'm on my same one right now. Very nice in games, excellent stuff. Highly recommended. Good luck with sale,

If it's anything like the FX P6831 then it DOES support raid.

I've got the earlier version which is currently and happily running 2 HDs in RAID0 via a toggle in the BIOS.

Just an fyi.

No this unit does not support raid, you will get corrupted data if you tried.

Would you give us some specs Woodstock? BIOS version, a screen of the set-up?

I know a few that are using RAID on this model, but Gateway data sheet sure blocks this (RAID support) information out.

cheers ...

Its not designed to run raid, its more or less at your own risk. If you look at the chipset with CPUID, its not the correct southbridge. The 683x model supported Raid officially. Not the 6860FX, and I owned that one too and had very mixed results. If you look up the official specs its even stated on Gateways site that its not supported. (Does not mean you can't try) but there is a chance to loose your data so. just caution. Just check the southbridge against Intel's data sheets and make sure it is using the correct (-R) chipset. I know for a fact the Bios on those does include a raid utility option. For my unit I tested it and no it did not work correctly and it was stated it wouldn't, not sure why their bios includes the support except to say they may have skimped and used the same bios code from other models.

Make sure the southbridge chip is one of the following ICH8R, ICH8DH, ICH8DO, and
ICH8M-E. If it is just ICH8M then it will not work. I know some of them use the ICH8M-E.

Don't take my word for it, read below:

You should edit your first post and put in your specs to have the notebook appear in the marketplace
