M17x for me?

I'm looking to buy a M17x but i'm not trying to break the bank...I'm looking to spend like 2000-2500 USD on it.

My question is would i be stupid to buy this laptop and not deck it out...if i reduce some of the features will it still be worth the price.

I'm going to use it primarly to play games, internet viewing, DVR at times, media holder. When i play games i don't need the setting maxed out I can handle lower setting.

What are some of the things i can take away that I won't need to reduce the price...like
Do I really need 2 graphics cards for what i need
Is there a big difference in the 2 types of monitors the 720p and 1200p
is a single HD fine or would it be better for me to use RAID 0 dual HD
Should i get a blueray player....I mean i have a ps3 so i probably won't need it right?

Am I stupid going for the most basic CPU and 4GB RAM

Like i said i don't need it for extream gaming.....just games like Starcraft2 Diablo3....any kind of MMO i choose to play.

Is this laptop geared for people with my needs? or is it like putting a v6 in a automatic 2009 Camero?

Thanks for the help

Have you looked at other brands like ASUS and Gateway? They do offer good gaming machines at good prices, since you are not so heavy in gaming.

Actually at this point in time i'm kinda stuck with the M17x if i choose to buy now because my credits a bit full and the only way i can purchase is with my Dell Preffered Account since i've already bought from there once before and i have available credit on it .

I see. The question is how much do you have to dole out besides the available credits that you earned? The ASUS and Gateway can be had for around $1200.

What are the configurations that you are looking at with the M17x? Put them up so we can chip in inputs.

For an AW, for these specs, for this price ... you will be fine. Try to squeeze in the 3-years extended warranty.

Do AW tipically need to be warrented for 3yr? Or all laptops in general.....
I personally recommend an extended warranty on ALL brands/models!

i would get rid of the raid 0 and get a small single hard drive to save money its cheaper to buy a harddrive from newegg and put it in yourself....and also i mean you could get rid of the 1200 p screen but its a preference... ram is also cheaper off of newegg.... the tv tuner are nice but I dont really even use it much to have it in my computer... i would try to bump it up to a 3 year warranty and i would bump up my processor to 2.8 if that will do for you on price...
