Downgrading 7735Z from Vista to XP

Hi

I've just got an Aspire 7735z, which came with Vista. I plan to use the machine for music software. Another machine I got a while back also had Vista and I had problems getting the software to work, so I eventually gave up and installed XP. Since then it's been working perfectly.

I planned to do the same with my 7735, but I get the BSOD when I boot with the XP disc.

The research I've done (and understand) suggests that I need the SATA drivers on the XP disc. I've spent a long time trying to find SATA drivers for the 7735z but I'm more confused than ever.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction, either in terms of getting the drivers, or whether I'm barking up the wrong tree altogether?

Please, I'm at my wits end here!

Yes, you will need to slipstream your SATA driver to an XP disk. You will also have to ensure that you have all the other drivers you will need to properly run XP ie, Sound, Video, wireless and all the others. Be fair warned, that the drivers/utilities required for special function keys may be impossible to find therefore you will lose those functions.
You might want to consider dual booting until you find all the XP drivers you will need. You will at least have a functioning laptop until you find what you need. Lots of info on dual booting on the web. Dont erase anything on your HDD until you make a copy of your restore CD in case you want to return to Vista down the road. Owners manual should have instructions on how to do it

Thanks for your reply. For the foreseeable future I am only interested in my music software. As long as I can get that to work, I'll be happy.

Is there anything more you can tell me about finding the right SATA driver. I'm not being funny, but the driver for what? I'm out of my depth here!

Thanks.

SATA driver is the driver for your Hard Disk Drive recognition as it is not included in the XP disk.

Thanks everyone. Finally did it with some rather large driver packs - the slipstreamed XP disc came to 900 mb in the end!
