I like these better than netbooks. The X3 is out $650 11hrs batt. But let me guess no optical drive? This is like the AIR but $1500 cheaper than when it came out or no? Am I missing something.

According to the article:

"All these notebook have up to 4GB DDR3 RAM (UL50Vg gets up to 8GB), up to 500GB hard drive, a DVD SuperMulti burner, a 0.3 Megapixel webcam, 1366×768 display, Altec Lansing speakers with SRS Premium Sound."

I have yet got my hands on one, so cannot vow for it though.

I am very seriously considering getting. It is hard for me to get rid of performance but I will still have my current. And the battery life is killer. Anything similar w/maybe ULV dual core? I mean 8hrs would be more than enough. Oh and that DVD if internal is great.

It is external. But qhn it does come with? That is better than not. What do we know about it.

The only ones I read so far are the Acer Aspire Timeline notebooks that come close to compete with the UL with up to 9hours battery usage.

The Aspire Timeline offers the choice of Intel Pentium, Intel Core Solo or Intel Core 2 Duo ultra low voltage processors and 3GB or 4GB of memory, a high-definition CineCrystal LED backlit widescreen display (16:9 ratio), Gigabit Ethernet or Wi-Fi 802.11b/g Draft-N, a Crystal Eye webcam ...

They offer the SU2700, SU3500 and SU9400 as configuration choice. Let me dig up some more and make a new thread for this Acer model.

cheers ...

I believe that (only) the UL50x carries an "internal" DVD drive. It makes more sense due to the 15" plus screen size comps.

cheers ...
