Win7 is 5 weeks away...buy an laptop w/ a free upgrade or wait?

October 22 is the date, and all the big laptop makers will have Win 7 models for sale that day. Based on the reviews I've read, I'm definitely making the switch to Win 7. I have two laptops & two desktops. One each with XP & Vista Home premium. The Vista laptop is old and needs to be replaced. I've shopping for a new laptop for about a month. But now that Win7 is so close, I'm thinking I might as well wait rather than dealing with possible upgrade issues.

Love to hear thoughts on this. Do I go ahead and pull the trigger on a laptop that qualifies for a Free Win7 upgrade, or wait 5 more weeks and buy one with it installed?

I'd say wait at least another week or so to get a new notebook with a Core i7 CPU.

I say consider your needs. If you can wait not a bad idea. But with 4 computers think you could handle the upgrade. On the i7 yea if you want sure or if you think prices will drop? I don't think prices will drop. I in general am not a fan of waiting. But do think if not a problem waiting won't hurt. Consider all options. But don't be afraid of W7 upgrade it should be easy.

Ditto. I am curious to see some of the new netbook launches too.
