Odd Power Related Issue with MX6930

I'm trying to figure out what is exactly wrong with a MX6930 that's about 3 years old. The machine will not charge the battery at all, unless the AC adapter cable end is held in one particular spot in the power jack. The adapter tested at 19.3 volts, and the battery is good, I fully charged it in another machine. The strangest thing that the MX6930 does, is when running Windows, with the AC adapter plugged in, is the machine changes about once a second between the battery and AC power profiles, and will not charge the battery. The screen brightens and dims every time this happens, as per the setup in the OS's power profiles.

I sent the motherboard to a friend who has access to a microscope soldering setup, and he checked the power jack with the AC adapter connected, and the jack was showing that it was putting 19.3 volts to the motherboard. So, I cannot figure out what's wrong with this machine. Blown voltage regulator, maybe? Or is it actually the power jack?

Thanks in advance!

I would try first with another battery. Yes, I read that you had it fully charged on another machine, but did you actually used it?

Then, tackle the power jack.

Yeah, I used the machine I charged the battery with, and it worked fine, I even tried my AC adapter with it as well and it worked. I used the other machine's battery and AC adapter while it was charging my battery, and the machine ran fine, but wouldn't charge the battery unless I held the cable in a certain place, and held it perfectly still.

Time to tackle the power jack.

Even though it shows voltage when the AC adapter is plugged in the jack? That's what doesn't make sense to me.

You mentioned that you must hold the cable at a certain place. For me, that is the sign of a bad power jack.

the dc connector might be physically fine. it just might need to be re-soldered...
