acer ASPIRE AS5920G hardware problem dont know what to do

i bought a laptop in january the as5920g the warranty says expired but they said they can fix that if i sent them proof of purchase so no worries. so il still be in the 1 year warranty coverage but im just wondering what i can do for my problem?

anyway for the last week intermittently i get these grey and white lines across my screen(ive occasionally seen a some pink ones or red i donno it happens quickly) sometimes the screeen goes white before and/or after them for a few seconds at different places
the lines dont stay long they flash and flicker.
it seems to happen more frequently when doing 3d stuff (gaming, gpu accelerated video players etc.) but not always
i know its hardware and not software because its occasionally happened at the acer boot screen and im running osx86 and windows 7 and it happens on both operating systems.

because its intermittent i dont know what acer can do
am i screwed ?
what should i do? i cant afford to fix it right now with tuition payments and i shouldnt have to its a newer machine

anyway thanks for any sugestions

If you have access to an external monitor, hook it up to one and see if the problem persists. If the problem goes away, its either your laptop screen or the GPU. Its nothing you can sort out on your own. Get the proof of purchase, go to the Acer site and find Fix My Acer or do a google search for it. Get it fixed under warranty

ok
so it looks to be the display i connected a external monitor and the problem only happens on the main display
so whats my next step has anyone dealt with acer for warranties before?

Like I said in my post, go to Acer.com if in the states and find "fix my Acer" or just do a google search for "fix my Acer". they will give you a shipping number and explain everything. You pay shipping to their repair facility
