well the only cons I see so far is only 2 memory slots where the M6400 has four. thus making for a much cheaper memory upgrade path

4 GB sticks are major $$$ right now

and of course the LED display...but it does make me wonder if the led dispay can be used on the m17x

I may try a quick swap to test

but my biggest reason for leaving dell is the way they been trating members with the M1730 laptops offering them an XPS16 which is total BS

I just do not want to see them trying to offer me some POS down the road because they stopped making a high end Precision laptop.

Also the Cooling solution of the M17x seems far better from what research I have done.

Last just when almost 50% increade in gaming GPU performance from the FX3700 to the Sli GTX280 cards,

I also like the ideal when the M17x runs n battery it reverts to anonbaord GPU t save battery power

Yep too bad, at least they would offer moving up with some extra $ from customers; a better apporach I think.

cheers ...

if it fits, that screen would rock in the m17x

Congrats on the order Dave. That's a nice system you just ordered.

Wondering if Dell had made a good move by assimilating Alienware, with all the rave and the converts of Dell XPS to the latest AW models.

cheers ...
I still like AW, though I wish they could have stayed their own company.
Yep. That what we were wishing at one time with eMachines.

I mean as far as the Dell branded line, they no longer produce a High End laptop, and have left it to AW line.

Also I believe the M17x laptop has a far superior cooling system, which should mean better life for the laptops
