Installing more memory in Pavilion dv9339us

Thread Starter
I want to install more RAM on my laptop, but I've read in a few places that my particular laptop won't accept more than 2gb of RAM. Is this true? It came with 2gb installed (two 1gb sticks). I was hoping to replace either one or both of the sticks with a 2gb stick. Is this possible or will it just be a waste of money? From what I've read online, the system will recognize there's more than 2gb of memory, but it will only utilize up to 2gb.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

(By the way, I'm using Vista Home Premium 32-bit, with 1.67 GHz Intel Core 2 processor.)

That is true that your specs call for 2 gigo MAX. And if it is possible, it would be just a waste of money since your current Vista 32Bits will not be able to take advantage of over the 2 gigo ram threshold.

cheers ...

The part about Vista 32b not being able to support more than 2 GB is is not entirely true. Vista 32B will be able to support up to 3 GB memory.

But, your laptop motherboard max RAM is 2 GB. So, you are maxed out.

Stand corrected, Vista 32Bits in many cases will support up to 3.2gigo ram.
