M1730 Dead For two weeks so far. GPU backorderd. - Page 3

you would think so, i expect it may take a few days to prep and ship it if it was a refurb, but not 30 days.

30 days tells me they are building it.

Ok well I just did another Dell Chat sessions. Tech told me that my replacement system has been processed. That is a start. My replacement parts for the M1730 have been cancelled. I then spoke to XPS chat support supervisor. I tried to extract as much info as I could but I will have to wait 7-10 days for the specs. He said this: "I am sorry about the delay. We have some new parts coming in for the model and we have to make sure the specifications that we are designing is best upgrade that we can offer you for that model."the alienware design is not yet ready so that I can give you the details about the specifications. Once we have the specifications you will be able to login online with your dell account and will be able to check the new specifications and track it"

Cross my Fingers.

Just got a call from Dell. Finally they called me when they said they would. Well he said that I will be getting a "new" Alienware M17x replacement system within 2 weeks. I quote when he said "it will be massively upgraded from what I currently have." I'll believe him when I see the specs. Hopefully they will show up in my e-mail or Dell account within the next few days.

How long should I give them to post my replacement specs and a valid order number to track its progress. The order was put in last Thursday. I just want a rough idea from those who have recieved or are in the process of getting a replacement Alienware. Thanks.
mine took 10 days but we have other members who took longer.

Drafting up a spec should take twenty minutes at the most. Once you agree to it, they should be able to order it up and get it approved inside of a day. Anything else is just someone either not working on your case enough or dragging their heels.

Spoke to a tech and this is what He said: "Sorry to say Customer, The order number of your system exchange has not been generated yet ." "This would take around 4 to 5 business days to generate an order number ." "The moment we get the order number generated for your system exchange I would give you a call and let you know the specifications of the computer ." The order was put in on Friday, October 2nd. I will give them till Friday I guess.

I know someone who works in server support for Dell and the times that I quoted were from him. The tools are the same.

Heh, my exchange was processed and my order number was in my dell page within a day. They are screwing with you because they are hoping against hope the GPU's are going to come in.

Nah I doubt that. My old order for the 8800's was canceled and this replacement was already approved. They said it was processed so hopefully an order number will come today or tomorrow. That would be within their time frame. Anything after that and I do have a problem. I am most concerned about being able to review my specs before they ship it out to me. But will see.

You are getting the same exact system as me But yeah, that is 280's
post #57 of 159
You got very nice replacement, including the Office 2007

Congrats

the 280s are about 25% faster than the 260's, but considering the over all gain I would take this and run.

Sweet. My case manager had e-mailed me a general specs sheet and he put 260mgtx sli and said he just put the basic stats without knowing what gpu I was getting. Lol NONYA we get the same. Dave-p ya I insisted they put small business and macafee 36 month in mine. No problem there. I asked about a 250gb HD but he said they generally just do that for people who buy online. Everything looks awsome. I can't believe he is giving me a 2.8ghz, 6mb when I had 2.4ghz , 800mhz, 3m L2.

Mine was put into Production Today. My new system comes to $3108.
