6020GZ Power issue

The laptop has no power, nothing. I took it apart looked at the power jack. Looks good. Tested for continuity and check ok. Plug in the power cord and took measurements. The power is at 19v but when I test from the jack itself it is sitting at .4 ? Is there a reducer built in to the jack and has gone bad or just a bad jack?

Could it be a dead mother board that is sucking the power some where into a black hole? Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

Could be a bad capacitor some where. Could be a mosfet that failed. Hard to say without looking at it and testing it.

I would not throw it into the garbage hehe.

Is the board getting voltage? Or is it jumping all over the place?

Gets like .4 or something like that. Pretty steady I would say.

Yeah. So do think it is a short or bad DC plug? Should I try to get the DC plug and see what happens?

You stated earlier you checked the continuity of the connector and it was fine.

I would not go and buy a new dc connector and put it on if there is a short on the board, that will not fix your problem.
