Let me try to understand.

You are able to install XP back onto the new drive? How did you install SP2? via update? or direct downloading the package from somewhere?

The link you gave is for fixing the issue AFTER SP2 was installed, you have yet to be able to install this service pack - or?

Yes i can install xp home sp1 from my original factory cds but when i install sp2 via windows update it goes to to the blue screen that it shows on the link and will not boot bigfix had the update which i had before the drive crashed but they no longer support it so now when i update to sp2 it won't let me boot and my only option to even be able to use the comp is a complete format and reinstall back to factory

According to eMachines Support Site, it is being recommended that you remove BigFix altogether. Give that a shot and try the update to SP2 again.

BigFix isnt the cause of the problem here qhn.

its buried in the Gateway section. the image on the M2350 discs was not prepared properly, and leaves some setup keys in the registry for the OOBE. SP2 uses the OOBE at the end of installation, and the bad registry keys are still there. Presuming it is still on the BigFix server, a fix was published to remove the offending keys, but you need to install it before installing SP2.

unfortunately if the BigFix servers are no longer active, theres no way to get it that way. I -might- still have the registry keys buried somewhere in my email from when I worked at eMachines, I dont think they were published here. you cannot install SP2 on the restored image without removing those keys first

I just checked, I don't have a copy of the keys.

Try the key listed in this post:
http://www.notebookforums.com/post3052136.html

You might be able to get by with just that, but if I remember correctly, it was four keys total. My only suggestion if that key by itself doesnt work is try contacting someone at eMachines to see if they have it documented somewhere, but if not then its lost forever and you would have to buy a regular copy of Windows to install from scratch

moving to the Gateway section

yeah i already tried removing bigfix before and reinstalling still kills it. so what your saying is that the factory cds are screwed up and thats why it does that? so if i get a regular copy of xp home i can still use my #off the xp sticker on the bottom and update it that way? it wasn't registered to me to begin with i bought it off someone else the sticker is still there though so can i re-register it to myself and update it that way? i can still get all my drivers and stuff off the factory cds if i do that though right?

yes, the registry of the factory CDs are screwed up and that's why it does that. try deleting the key listed in that post. it might work, but I think there was more than just one key that needed to be deleted.

the product key on the bottom is an OEM key, and wont work with a normal XP disc unfortunately.

i read on another post somewhere that someone tried deleting just that one key and it did not work am i able to d/l some type of oem? xp disk that my serial will work with or am i just screwed? i also found this other website where i can d/l xp home or pro with sp3 http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/down...tp-or-torrent/ I've d/l the xp home sp3 retail version so does that mean i don't need a key to install it? and i can use it on my laptop?

I would recommend that you get/borrow a legit XP installation disk and use the COA key for reactivation, and stay away from XP installation files from torrent sites.
