Acer Aspire 5630 Touchpad + Keyboard problem

Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire 5630 and since 2 weeks i'm having problems with the touchpad and the keyboard. I tried reinstalling Windows Vista which didn't work. Then i tried windows 7 and it also has the same problem( also tried new drivers etc) . With an extern keyboard and mouse it is able to use te laptop.

fn+ f7 doenst work. (because de keyboard doenst work )

The strange part is that when i acces the bios, de keyboard works.

I hope you guys have a solution for me

Try removing and re-seating the keyboard? MichelleG mentioned somewhere that you can reset the whole thing. Darn, where is that post.

remove the battery and only use AC. does that work? if so, bad battery.

i already tried to dismount te battery but it doesn't help. I also mention that the laptop somethimes doesn't boot at all.. the lights are on and the harddrive cdrom drive etc starts but the screen doesn't show anything. when i press the start button for 4 sec to power it down and start again it somethimes work.

I already did send the laptop to acer and i got it back working. but 2 days later i had the same problem with the keyboard and touchpad. at first i thought it was a microsoft update but then it doesn't make sense if the pc doesn't boot. Acer said it was a software problem but reinstalling just doesn;t work.

any more ideas ?:P

What did the repair shop perform on your notebook?

You mentioned that accessing the BIOS made the keyboard work, it could be the CMOS battery that is failing, my wild guess.
