Inspire my Aspire!!

Hi all,

I Hope u all are well and healthy.

I seem to have done something to my sis's laptop.
its an Aspire 5720.

It used to boot by showing acer screen, then straight away loading vista (home premium).
When i started it up today, it would not load to vista.

i stuck in the recovery disks made with eRecovery management, and it re-installed vista ok.

After powering on, whilst on the acer screen it says:
'prepare boot to OS'
(written on bottom of screen)

then came a black screen, with some writing:

Drive 0 : primary Win Vista NTFS ACER
also their is an option:
(boot from A : press f2 to run setup)

this screen is black, and the colour of the writing is different, some of it blue, some red etc...

I dont know why/how this started, but now, everytime on booting up, it displays this.

If I choose Vista, then it boots up normally, to Vista.
However, sometimes the time countdown is not there (15 seconds to choose), and it just sits on this screen.

Ive done a reinstall with the factory default disks i made. OS is working fine, but we want it to boot directly to Vista, rather than showing the black screen and the options to boot to vista or A:

Any advice appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Try this first, should work for Vista as well.

. Start, Run and type MSCONFIG
. Select the Boot.ini tab
. ->Check All Boot Paths button
. remove any startup line that you don't want.

cheers ...

Hi qhn,

Hope you are having a good day.
thanks for the response, i just tried it...

just my luck, the main option they removed from vista msconfig under the boot tab, is the check all bootpaths! button...
lol, just my luck.

in the box it says:
Microsoft Windows Vista (c:\windows): Current OS; Default OS

i look on the net, and notice vista doesnt use this boot file like xp i think.

Im starting to read about bcdedit, but this in a black DOS box. loads of different stuff tho...getting a bit lost in all this black and white writing...lol, thought this stuff was win95 times...lol

thanks so much for the help.

regards,
