well, i would have to send in my laptop, wait up to 30 days (in dell land, 40-50- days ill bet) and then i would get 1600 or so, and they will deposit the cost of the extended warranty into my dell credit account, which i don't use and has a 0 balance... i think i am changing my mind about the refund, i just cant go without a work laptop for an indeterminate amount of time. and i doubt i would get the full refund anyways. i suppose i will have to go for the xps 16, trying to get a decent configuration, considering the downgrade...

Demand the refund first. They can always bill you if you don't return the laptop. Never makes sense you have to return the unit first...

Well after 2 hours on the phone with Dell getting sent all over the place I finally was able to get the a new order put in but still will have to wait another 7 to 14 business days. The only reason that she told me it was cancelled was that they are now replacing the M1730 notebooks with the Alienware but I was already getting an Alienware . She configured the system with me over the phone and I will get the confirmation email shortly, I have new dispatch number.

I would call the last rep back and get him to put the M17x back as your replacement.

So they won't give you an Alienware? How long have you been without a working notebook?

Thank you for the mail. I apologize for the Inconvenience caused . There is global shortage of the 8800GTX video card till january 2010. We have an option .We can send you 8700GT till the 8800GTX is available. Once the 8800GTX card is available we would replace it . Please reply for the confirmation.

Thanks & regards

It's a month now.
I can use it, it's only the second card that's defect.
Needs to restart once in a while to get the other one working.
Just SLI isn't possible.

wonder if getting the media involve can cure this problem.
