Dell will have a hard time to win Woodstock back

I don't think this is Dell's fault does it ?
You have to blaim Nvidia for delivering faulty GPU's.

It would be a toss up, since Dell is not the only that uses these GPU chips, but the only manufacturer (so far) that seems to have issue galore with this model.

cheers ...

Could be, but I think dell's sales of the 1730 where more that all others together no ?

+ The 1730 is already 2 years on the market.

We gave our cash to Dell. Our laptops and warranty are provided by Dell. It's up to Dell to make it right. They can then deal with nVidia in their own time.

Sure, but I can't complain about customer care.
Just got a phone from India that they will ship me a 8700 card.
I can put it in myself
I don't mind, I already replaced that CPU also.

Okay, just make sure that you get the 8800 when it becomes available.

You got that right

yes, nvidia made some junk cards, but dell knew this and did nothing to repair it. dell reps are beyond rude, they lie, they cheat and constantly drag on things. they also go against the warranty i paid for... dell has gotten very evil, they consciously try to get you so frustrated and worn out you just give in. that's what i did...

Dell was top seller. That was why it had sold more units of its model. Customers rely on the ranking to go with one manufacturer over another times and times.

Dell, in my humble opinion, screwed up in this opportunity! Hopefully that they will recover, just like with many other good manufacturers.

cheers ...

And this is exactly why I hope that Dell will recover, by duplicating these good instance of customer care to ALL!

Dell has been incosistant with the way they handled this whole mess

Some have been treated very well, and given a very good replacements

others have been treated like crap. and given terrible service

As in Woodstocks case, Dell is not living up to the terms of the warranty service

I wonder if one should call up support at a certain time during the day to get the right person

cheers ...

there is alot of truth to that statement - getting a good rep is hard to do lol

My M1710 has been acting up the past few days, I'm hoping it straightens itself out because there's no way I'm going to make a warranty claim right now.

The refund option isn't so bad, but I'm not going to take a "temporary" downgrade while they wait to get more equipment in. If anything they should give out "temporary" upgrades, what kind of warranty is this?

It's the Dell model. They don't build kit to keep as spare. They don't build anything unless it's paid for first.

Update,
My 8800M GTX died completely today, nice blocks on the screen.
Luckely the repair man will come today to fix it (for now 8700GT).
I can still use it, that's my major concern.

Make sure that the service call remains open and continue to keep an eye on how long the call is open.

It should take till januari before the cards arrive.
No worries, I'm not leaving this
