Hi, was just browsing to see if anyone else was having similar problems with their M1730...

I've had one for the past year and a half and to be honest, it's never given me one problem. It's got the T9300, two 8800m GTXs and I didn't bother with the Bluray option at time of purchase.

Then last week it bluescreens and since then it won't load the video drivers correctly and they show with bangs in Device Manager. Tried to reinstall various drivers from Dell, nVidia, laptopvideo2go, etc. but no luck. Reinstalled the OS from scratch and with the Dell drivers, nothing. Still got bangs. The fans aren't spinning, so something is screwed.

Called Dell and they spent several hours remotely connected to the system. OS was reloaded and they tried various drivers as well. Basically everything that I had already done, but the lady was nice about it, so I let her be. That evening, she decided to send an engineer to replace the video card(s).

Friday morning I get a call to say that the part isn't available. Today, it's the same. I checked the Dell site and you can't buy the m1730 with the 8800m GTX any longer. I also received an email saying that the part could be available in three weeks. If the part is no longer being manufactured, then the quality of the service parts is going to go downhill.

Now, this laptop is on it's second year of "Premium Support Next Business Day Onsite Support XPS, Adamo & Alienware." How long should I give them before I start asking for a replacement laptop? I don't want to be rude as I've worked that job, but I also paid to have a working laptop.

And I thought that they swore up and down it would be here by October 5th.

Received another call this morning. Still no card available. I asked the tech how many people were waiting for this card and she replied 120.

120!

On Friday I'll start to make some fuss. If I know Dell (and I do), they would be happy to leave everyone wait.

Er a rep told me last night there are over 200 waiting . My case manager wont`t talk to me and i have requested many callbacks . They told me there`s no time frame for these parts .I'm into my 6th week of waiting now .
