Brilliant idea. Why did they not consider this? Cheaper for them as well.

cheers ...

A friend of mine suggested that I buy my own card and bill them for it. Not keen on that idea as they probably have no facility for refunds and will not do it without prior agreement.

As for the 120 number, I'm an EMEA customer. Should add something into my signature to reflect that. Anyways, a large number is a large number.

Being an EMEA member, you should have better chance to push Dell than the counterpart in USA. Go for it!

I'm going to give them until Friday. At that point they're a week late. I think that giving them a week is fair.

Why do you think that? Surely a US company would take more notice of a US customer?

You would hope so. But since when is customer satisfaction the number one motto here, or the norm even? With European Consumer Protection laws, these corporations feel the heat from the fire, thus moving faster.

Just to prove a point of the difference between Dell support (shortchanging) of USA customers vs European ones.

It stands for Europe, Middle East and Africa, but it's used mostly for Europe.

now this is where the exception settles in. Dell considers UK USA (speaking the same language).

But this is no joke. Consumers in Continent Europe get better support from Dell, HP etc ... than the ones outside it - and UK is outside of Continent Europe

We should have a new thread to count how many people get replacement laptops out of Dell for this M1730/duff GPU issue. Maybe a thread with a vote?

Is there anything I can do to prevent mine from dying? my warranty just expired and I'm so scared now lol of it dying. I don't play a WHOLE lot of games these days as I'm an occasional gamer but I just like having the power there ready to use when needed. Would getting a laptop cooler help?

My Current M1730 has 8800 GTX sli, X9000 now, and SSD drives. I don't overclock my system and I went with SSD for the lower temps, I'm trying to do everything in my power to prevent it from overheating because of the amount of horror stories I keep hearing.

Keep it cool, visually checking out the vents and clean out the heatsink will definitively help prolonging the life of any notebooks. Then just cross your fingers that the parts just don't die because of age.

cheers ...

If you're worried about it, give them a call and see if they'll take your money for a warranty extension. NBD should be fine. I'll be surprised if they don't.
yes...if your warranty has just expired Dell will still extend it...and i would suggest that considering the money invested in your latop.

Short of that, Honestly I would sell it, and buy a AW M17x

It would not hurt to try. I found I always got better support from the SB unit.
