Hi Guys,
I bought an HP Pavilion DV6500T SE about 2 years back and it had been working fine until the last few months. Although it came with Windows Vista Home, I'd downgraded immediately to xp pro (sp 2) back then and the machine gave me no trouble as such.
But in the past few months the graphics have been giving me issues. Whenever the machine boots up, eventually showing the bios and the windows splash screen, I see these little barcoded style lines on the screen. I cannot play games anymore ( The laptop has a 383 Geforce 8400M GS card) and if I load new games and execute them, the machine just shows black and then hangs or sometimes even reboots. Also, I cannot connect my HDMI cable to my T.V anymore. Everytime I do that, my laptop screen again goes blank and shows these barcodes which is also reflected on the T.V screen as well. I didn't have these problems previously.
Also sometimes, if a website has heavy graphic images or a flash video, it hangs again showing the same blank screen and I have to reboot the machine to get back to windows. Currently, I've turned my hardware acceleration off in order to avoid these problems. With hardware acceleration off, I have no problems using Sony Vegas, After Effects, Maya etc, the machine works like a charm but again, I cannot play any games or connect my HDMI to an external device. I am not sure if my graphic card's fried or is it a driver issue? I recently formatted my machine but its still giving me the same problem.
Also, the laptop's been getting very hot lately, I dont know if the heatsink's clogged with dirt or what, the fans also work constantly and are noisy.
Thnx for reading
