Alienware M17 Price Drop?

Okay guys, I need some help. I configured and purchased my M17 from Alienware last night and it came to the tune of $1449 (before tax and shipping). Today, I found out that as a college student, I am entitled to the 5% discount offered by Alienware University. So, I went and signed up for it and went to configure the same exact M17 to see the price difference. This is when I noticed that sometime between last night and tonight, Alienware dropped the price of the M17 by roughly $200; that plus the roughly $80 I save with Alienware University. My laptop just entered the first production phase late this evening.

My question is, what are my options?

If I call them and tell them about the price drop and that I am a college student, what are the chances of them crediting me the $280 or so that I think I'm entitled to?

call them and find out. worst case scenario return the laptop and place another order. I'm sure dell would rather save on the costs of processing a return, preparing a new laptop for you, shipping, and customer dissatisfaction just to save a couple of bucks

Well, I know if I wait until they ship it to me and then I return it, there's a 15% restocking fee plus all the shipping losses. My question is, do I get charged any fee if I cancel before it ships?

This will make more sense. Call them asap. Canceling the order would create some administrative nightmare for them, and you.

I don't even see the M17 listen on the site anymore. Where are you configuring it?

Oh i see. Yeh you can def. call them and have the price changed. As long as your system hasn't shipped yet.

Thanks guys, just got off the phone with Alienware. They said that they can only apply one promotion to my account (either the price drop of $200 or the student discount of 5%). I COULD cancel the order and reorder to get both, but she told me my M17 is already out of the Phase 5 (assembly), and I want to get my Alienware asap so I just took the $214 price drop difference.
