Getting my first Alienware.

I'm getting a replacement from Dell and I made him guarantee me a 2.6GHz CPU, WUXGA screen, and dual Nvidia cards. So I'm guessing I'm getting the 260M's and I was wondering how good do/will they run on these games?

Crysis
NFS: Shift
Gears of War
AOE III
GRID
COD: MW 2

Should I be able to run these games at 1920x1200 at max settings (no AA)? I know Crysis is really demanding, but I've seen videos of the single 260M running at 1440x900 without any problems.

Thanks,

Keep your eyes on the benchmark section. The Admin group is being busy with a slew of benchmarking.

Steve already had a "just scored 54k in 3dmark03 on the m17" score yesterday.

cheers ...

I went to the Alienware benchmark section and I just saw a lot of old posts. I'd like to contribute also but am I looking in the right area?

It is true that the benchmark section has old posts at the moment. Most of the benchmarks are being done within the Review of the notebooks themselves. Take a look at the Review Section as well.

We shall be happy for any contributions from forum members. You can submit your own benchmark/review at any time using the option submit a benchmark or review on the right pane of page. Then just follow the script.

cheers ...

The benchmark forum section is just where we can have discussion on the benchmarks that are submitted. Here is where they are listed.

In that case it doesn't look like anyone is talking about it.

I already sold off my first M17x and have a second one on the way so I already have some benchmarks I can share. If no one makes a thread by the time I get the new system I'll create one.

Kinda surprised you didn't go with 2x OCZ Agility EX drives there WAYYYYYYYYYY faster

How do you know which SSD I went with?

256GB Samsung drives for $400 for me was the best price/performance ratio IMO. Samsung has claimed the trim firmware is being released at the same time Windows 7 is. We will see.

260's or 280's?

I was looking over my replacement specs and I saw this:

320-0762SLI Dual 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA GeForce (NB10E-GTX1)

At first I though it was 260's but I Google'd and people are saying that is the Dual 280M's instead. Can anybody confirm this please?

Thanks,
Nonya

It's still "In Production" the rep that called me said it SHOULD be here Tuesday. Which I find hard to believe. I hate waiting for it

Holy Crap, you so lucked out with your replacement! Grats man!

The replacement gods never smile upon me. I always have to pull teeth to get what I want. How the hell do they consider a 280M SLI replacement for an 8700 i don't know, but thats frickin awesome!

Is there a huge difference performance wise between the 260m and 280m?
