The replacement gods never smile upon me. I always have to pull teeth to get what I want. How the hell do they consider a 280M SLI replacement for an 8700 i don't know, but thats frickin awesome!

Is there a huge difference performance wise between the 260m and 280m?
That's what I though. When I first saw the Dual 1GB I was like yay SLI 260s! And never paid anymore attention to it. But today I just wanted to make sure. My 8700's can't even run Halo 2 above 45FPS, guess I got lucky... again

@ nonya24:

I am merging this thread to the other one of yours, since it is within the same topic of your first Alienware.

Wierd... it is still in the build stage and the estimated ship date is still tomorrow. Hopefully it does ship out

I just got a "your order has been delayed" email. Next Monday it will be a month since I ordered. I doubt I will wait longer than that. I will either be shipped or I will cancel.

My estimated shipping date has now vanished and stuck in the building stage. Is there a shortage on 280M's?

I don't believe that there is a shortage, only that Dell-Alienware did not anticipate the number of outgoing units, when one adds the Dell replacements and the new AW unit sales together.

cheers ...

This is what doesn't make any sense. Speed had his order made on 10/08 and already received it last Friday???

His specs were Identical to your Nonya...

Sorry to hear that Nonya. Ya Turmoil that amazes me.

yeh, mine was place on 10/06 with no real ship date in sight. They keep chaning it. It was suppose to ship today, and now its shipping on the 26th? I called in and complained and they said they will expedite it... who knows at this point, but I am VERY irritated.

Hopefully it's worth the wait

It is worth the wait - definitely far better laptop than the Dell XPS

I frickin hope so. I really want to have a laptop that I can hold on to for a few years without having to worry about replacing it every frickin year because it breaks haha
