I don't think there are too many gamers on NBF. But I hope that changes in the future.

I'm not buying this anymore. At least not on release day.

There will be no dedicated server support in the game, and support for custom content such as mods and maps is up in the air with slim chances of making it. The game will rely on IW's matchmaking service for multiplayer, and just like that, dedicated servers will be history.

The official word is that taking these steps is going to 'standardize' the multiplayer experience for the PC players, and that it is going to be good for the community 'in the long run'. Didn't know until now that stripping core features and attractions from a game could ever qualify as improvements.

The unofficial and obvious reason is clear... the maps that the game ships with are going to grow stale in a while, and with no mods or custom maps available, the premium DLC is going to be the only option for PC gamers to play on in the long term. The matchmaking service seems like an attempted swing at piracy, being that there are plenty of cracked servers out there for CoD4. All in all, it seems like everything's favouring the publisher's pockets here, and not the customers.
