I thought that I would chime in with the question of why not the Studio XPS 16? I'm also in the market for a new laptop and I'm having a hard time deciding. I currently have the Asus W90vp but the weight and thickness of the computer is too much. I'm not a gamer so the video card is a little less of an issue, however, I do want one that can handle CAD applications reasonably well. The Studio XPS 16, the Sony FW490, the Dell Precision M6400 all look like good candidates. Unfortunately, the Precision is the most expensive (this is the one that I really want), and I have read a number of posts that state that the XPS 16 has heat problems. Therefore, the Sony seems like the most obvious choice. What do you guys think?
For all of my complaints of the W90 I have to admit that it is an incredible computer. It is virtually silent, has a Q9000 processor, ATI Radeon HD4870 X2, dual HDs, etc. etc. but it's just a little too heavy. I'm hoping that the Dells and the Sony are really quiet also.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
