New Power Supply Cord Problem

Thread Starter
New here, checked the stickies and couldn't find any info regarding this matter so here I go..

I broke the tip of my power supply of my Gateway C-143X trying to jam it into the wrong place! Instead of repairing the tip from Radio Shack I bought a new PS cord.

The original power supply is the OEM brand (think it was A-Open) and the new is Toshiba, but the Input and Output values are exactly the same (Outs to 3.42 X 19V @ 65W as expected). Original Model number PA-1650-01.

The cord worked great until 99% charging. The computer used to recognize the battery was fully charged and the light would switch to purple when completely on AC power. Now Windows has not said "On AC Power" once since the new PS cord nor has the light ever changed from purple to blue.

My concern is that this may try to "overcharge" the battery... if this is even possible.. and ultimately ruin the battery. Do I have to run "battery auto learning" in BIOS? What should I do?

In this case I would personally try to get an OEM adapter asap, forget about the "correct" input and output numbers of other brands.

cheers ...
